Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful routes inside of the central Sierra region of Ecuador, where, one century ago, the English scientist and alpinist, Edwards Whymper, traveled in search of the answer to his theories and reached the summit of the main mountain of Ecuador for the first time.
Departing from the heart of the Ecuadorian Andes at 4.800 m / 15.748 ft, we will begin a 2.000 m / 6.561 ft descent, leaving the snow and sandpits of the majestic Chimborazo behind us, entering the Ambato River Valley which will carry us throughout its small communities towards the city of Ambato, the capital of the Tungurahua Province.
